iUSCAN Canadian Fellows Introductory IUS Training
Thursday, November 5, 2026 | 7:45 AM–12:45 PM Eastern Time
Toronto, Ontario, Canada — immediately prior to the Meeting of the Minds conference.

iUSCAN is launching a pathway for Canadian fellows to train and become certified in intestinal ultrasound (IUS). This introductory course is designed for Canadian adult gastroenterology, pediatric gastroenterology, and advanced IBD fellows and serves as the entry point into the longitudinal iUSCAN Fellows Training Program for selected participants.

COURSE FORMAT
Following the half-day introductory fellows-course format held at DDW in May 2026, the program combines foundational teaching with practical experience:

  • Expert-led instruction in IUS principles, image acquisition, and interpretation.
  • Hands-on training and live scanning sessions.
  • Case-based discussions focused on applying IUS in inflammatory bowel disease care.

TRAINING PATHWAY

  • Foundations: self-paced eLearning modules available starting October 2026, followed by this half-day introductory course in November.
  • Longitudinal practice and coaching: virtual coaching and in-person coaching where available, with a minimum of 100 independently performed exams from November 2026 to May 2027.
  • Continued hands-on training: a second half-day session at Crohn’s & Colitis Congress on January 23, 2027, in New Orleans.
  • Certification: an in-person competency assessment and online knowledge examination at DDW 2027, with completion expected by May 2027.

PARTICIPANTS
The program is intended for Canadian adult or pediatric gastroenterology fellows and advanced IBD fellows in good standing, with institutional support and a commitment to incorporating IUS into clinical practice and completing the longitudinal training pathway.
